My brothers, these things ought not to be so. 10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God.
OUT OF THE OVERFLOW OF THE HEART THE MOUTH SPEAKS PROVERBS FULL
It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. 5 So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. 4 Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. James, (the brother of Jesus), wrote the following:ģ If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. 45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. What would your breath smell like? Would it be a refreshing or vile? Out of the abundance of your heart, your mouth speaks.Ĥ3 “ For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44 for each tree is known by its own fruit. What comes out of your mouth, first found its home in your heart. However, if you were to wake with dragon-breath, your face would be attracted to gravity, drooping with anger, bitterness and hate. If you awoke with sweet smelling breath, you would naturally find yourself smiling, friendly, full of love and compassion for others. The good person would exhale fresh breath, while the evil person would blow out vile dragon-breath. Imagine for a moment, that you were to wake up tomorrow morning only to find that the smell of your breath was determined by the condition of our heart.
